Georgian Fonts in WordPress — the Georgian Fonts Plugin
What is Georgian Fonts?
Georgian Fonts is a free WordPress plugin made by RE:HOST that adds more than 180 Georgian fonts to your site. Every font is optimized and compressed in the web-friendly woff2 format. The plugin is listed in the official WordPress.org plugin directory and works on any hosting, not only RE:HOST.
Requirements
- WordPress 5.0 or newer
- PHP 7.2 or newer
These figures are for plugin version 1.8.0. The plugin's WordPress.org page always lists the latest compatibility details.
Installation
- Sign in to your WordPress admin and go to Plugins → Add New.
- Search for Georgian Fonts.
- Find “Georgian Fonts” by REHOST and click Install Now.
- When the installation finishes, click Activate.
Alternatively, upload the plugin folder to /wp-content/plugins/ yourself and activate it from the Plugins screen.
Assigning fonts to site elements
Once the plugin is active, a Set Fonts page appears in your admin. Use it to assign any Georgian font to your site's main elements — headings, paragraphs and links — without editing your theme's code.
Elementor and WPBakery
In Elementor, the fonts appear in the Typography settings as soon as the plugin is active, in their own Georgian group, with a preview of each font. The plugin also supports WPBakery Page Builder.
Font source: CDN or local
By default the fonts load from RE:HOST's CDN. On the Set Fonts page you can switch to a local directory instead — the fonts are then served from your own server, so loading speed depends on your hosting.
Will it slow my site down?
The plugin only loads the fonts you actually use, and loads them asynchronously. Even so, we recommend using no more than two or three fonts on one site — every extra font adds to page weight.
Adding your own font
If the Georgian font you need isn't in the plugin yet, get in touch — we will consider adding it if it meets our minimum requirements.
