Turning WHOIS Privacy On or Off
What is WHOIS privacy?
When you register a domain, your contact details — name, address, email and phone number — become publicly available in the WHOIS database, where anyone can look them up. Turning on WHOIS privacy hides these details from public lookups, which helps you avoid spam, unwanted calls and automated data harvesting.
How to turn it on
- Sign in to your account and go to Dashboard → Domains.
- Choose the domain from the list.
- On the domain page, in the "Domain settings" section, find the "WHOIS privacy" switch.
- Click the switch — the change takes effect immediately, with no further confirmation needed.
Click the same switch again to turn the feature off at any time.
Is it worth it?
Turning WHOIS privacy on or off is free through RE:HOST for every domain registered with or transferred to us.
Where it does not apply
This setting does not apply to free .rehost.club subdomains, because they have no registration of their own with a registry. If a domain is registered with another registrar and is only connected to RE:HOST to manage its DNS, WHOIS privacy can only be managed at the registrar where the domain is registered.
